The domentary tells about the life of a modern Gypsy community (about 100 people) living in a small Latvian town of Sabile. In spite of having accepted a lot in the modern life and in spite of the state programme aimed at the integration of Gypsy kids into the social life, the community?s life stile is still completely different from the life of the rest of the people. Yes, they are different, but their existence contributes to the ?treasury? of the Latvian society and the Latvian culture.

Suddenly the spectator is faced to a shocking fact. The life of this Gypsy community could have never come to existence.

In summer of 1941 Latvia was occupied by German Nazi troops. When all the Jews in Sabile town had been shot down, the Nazies arrested all the Gipsies in the town and order them to dig a grave for themselves. Then they were driven on the brink of the pit, and the shooters were waiting for a command to shoot. But the mayor of Sabile Martins Berzins said: ?They all are my residents. If you want to shoot them down, shoot me too?. In this way he saved more than two hundred Gipsies.
